These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of The Foreman (“we”, “our”, “us”), available at theforeman.app. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you’re using The Foreman on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
1. The Service
The Foreman is a read-only AWS infrastructure scanning tool that identifies idle or wasteful cloud resources and estimates potential cost savings. It connects to your AWS account via IAM role assumption, performs scheduled scans, and delivers findings via the dashboard, Slack, and email.
The Foreman does not modify, create, stop, or delete any infrastructure in your AWS account. All access is read-only. See our Security page for details.
2. Accounts
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.
- One free plan per organization. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits is not permitted.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the service
- Probe or test the security of the service without prior written consent
- Use the service to scan AWS accounts you do not own or have authorization to access
- Resell or sublicense access to the service without written permission
4. Billing & Subscriptions
Free plan
The free plan is provided as-is with no payment required. We may modify or discontinue free plan features with reasonable notice.
Paid plans
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. You authorize us to charge your payment method on the billing date each cycle.
Cancellation
You may cancel at any time from the billing settings page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for unused time.
Price changes
We will give at least 30 days’ notice before increasing prices for active subscribers.
5. Your Data & AWS Access
You retain ownership of your data. By connecting an AWS account, you grant The Foreman permission to perform read-only API calls on your behalf using the IAM role you configure. You can revoke this access at any time by deleting the IAM role.
We use your AWS resource data solely to generate findings and deliver the service to you. We do not share, sell, or use your infrastructure data for any other purpose. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
6. Accuracy of Findings
The Foreman provides cost-saving recommendations based on resource metadata and utilization metrics. These are estimates, not guarantees. Infrastructure usage patterns vary, and findings should be reviewed by your team before acting on them.
We are not responsible for any costs, outages, or other consequences resulting from actions you take based on scan findings.
7. Intellectual Property
The Foreman and its content — including the software, UI, logos, and documentation — are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property law. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks or branding.
We do not claim ownership of your data or your AWS infrastructure.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that findings will be accurate or complete. Use of the service is at your own risk.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Foreman and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms or the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your payment fails and is not resolved within a reasonable period, or if we discontinue the service. We will provide reasonable advance notice where possible.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the service evolves. We’ll notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which The Foreman is operated, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
